Ten years after their broken affair, Sebastian and Caroline meet again: this time in very different circumstances, against the background of the war in Afghanistan.

Now a successful journalist, Caroline meets Chief Sebastian Hunter, US Marine. Will this chance encounter rekindle the erotic madness of her passionate affair with a younger man?

*Please don’t read if you have not read The Education of Sebastian due to spoilers*

The Education of Caroline is a hot and steamy 4 star continuation to The Education of Sebastian. When I finished The Education of Sebastian, I was so eager to continue on the journey with Sebastian and Caroline. So much was left unresolved and I desperately wanted to see how it played out. So, when I found out that I was going to get the chance to go on and read The Education of Caroline, I was ecstatic to say the least. And it did not disappoint one bit!

It wasn’t perfect: so what? Life isn’t perfect: life is what happens while you’re waiting for your moment in the sun and if you miss it, waiting instead for the perfect illusion that Hollywood sells, then more fool you.

Ten years have passed since that fateful day when Caroline and Sebastian’s little secret came out and she left. Caroline had immediately taken off to New York and started her new life. Over the past ten years, she has become quite the reputable war journalist. And with the events of 9/11, she has kept quite busy.

“I’ll say one thing: if Shakespeare had known you, he wouldn’t have had to steal all his plot lines, because that’s one hell of a yarn.”

Sebastian had done exactly what he had to ten years ago to save Caroline. As soon as he turned 18, he enlisted in the US Marines. Life has dealt Sebastian some tough cards and Sebastian turned into a bitter adult known for his womanizer nature. Fate seems to bring Caroline and Sebastian back together as they both prepare to deport overseas once again.

I couldn’t help thinking that in some ways I’d had the best of him then, before life had made him bitter. Although his early life had been far from perfect, he’d been the sweetest, kindest, person; the gentlest, most thoughtful and selfless lover – and a good friend.

I was so happy to see that both Caroline and Sebastian had grown up. Caroline’s new independence and transformed her and she was no longer the contradiction that she was in The Education of Sebastian. Now, she is a fearless woman, not afraid to go after what she wants. While I hated to see Sebastian so angry and conflicted, I was glad to see that he wasn’t the desperate little boy any more. He was a hot powerful man with confidence. Of course, when it comes to Caroline, the desperation can still be seen somewhat. Their unexpected meeting doesn’t exactly go smooth and they struggle to figure out how they fit together anymore or if they even do with all that has happened.

It felt good waking up in his arms. Hell, it felt better than good, it felt…right.

This story seemed to have so many more layers than The Education of Sebastian. We still have the element of this completely HOT forbidden love affair (and once again, it is HOT) but the war and their involvement in it brought about new, very intriguing elements. We also are given an insight into the struggles of war veterans, which was heartbreaking.

“I love you, I have always loved you, and wherever I go after this world, I will always love you. Sempre e per sempre.”

The Education of Caroline was such a wonderful conclusion to The Education of Sebastian. There is so much to say about this story but I really feel like it is best to experience all of it on your own. I truly felt invested with these characters as they tried to come to grips with the cards that life had dealt them. I highly recommend this one, especially if you enjoyed The Education of Sebastian.

About the Author
My name is Lindsay Brady. I currently juggle being a wife, a mother, and a middle school teacher. My daughter is almost three and is ALL girl. She keeps me very busy!!! When I was younger, you could find me either reading or writing books. My parents thought that I would end up becoming a writer and have somehow not given up on that dream even though I never pursued it. In reality, I abruptly stopped reading when I changed to a private school in the fifth grade and was forced to read books that didn't even slightly interest me. About a year ago, I was needing something to help me slow down and provide an escape from my busy schedule. That is when I got the itch to read again. And once I started, I have not been able to stop. I think I am making up for lost time :) I particularly like contemporary, adult, and young adult romance novels. There are so many great books that have kept me busy lately and so many that I am looking forward to!
