She’s running from the law, and the law wants her bad.

The opportunity was just too damn delicious for Ginger Peet to pass up. The purse full of money she finds—$50,000 to be exact—could give her and her teen sister the new start they need. So she grabs the cash, her gothy sibling, and their life-sized statue of Dolly Parton, and blows outta Nashville in a cloud of dust. Chicago, here we come…

Turns out, Chicago has some pretty hot cops. Hot, intense, naughty-lookin’ cops like Derek Tyler, who looks like he could eat a girl up and leave her begging for more. And more. Tempting as he is, getting involved with the sexy homicide lieutenant next door poses a teensy problem for a gal who’s on the lam. But one thing is certain—Derek’s onto her, and he wants more than just a taste.

And as far as he’s concerned, possession is nine-tenths of the law.

HOLY HOTNESS! I don’t really know what I expected going into Protecting What’s His, but I can definitely say that it exceeded whatever my expectations were. I was completely hooked from the first chapter and could not put it down. I’m always a sucker for a confident, domineering alpha male and boy was Derek the epitome of this. The combination of the suspense and steamy romance landed this one at 5 stars!
Watching her mother’s self-worth wither or thrive, depending on who occupied her bed. She’d made the decision at a young age never to give anyone the power to destroy her ability to reason.

Ginger Peet had a very rough childhood. Her immature mother chose men and drugs over taking care of Ginger and her younger sister, Willa. So, Ginger had to step up at a very young age in order for her sister and her to survive. Now, an adult, she is still taking care of her teenage sister. One night while her mother is passed out, Ginger sees a large sum of money in her purse. Without much thought of where the money came from or better yet who it belonged to, she took the money, packed up their stuff and took off to Chicago with Willa.

While moving into their apartment, they meet Derek Tyler, a high strung Lieutenant. Their very first encounter had such a sexual tension that only grew each time they talked to one another. They were so attracted to one another but also figured out how to push the other’s buttons quickly. And buttons were constantly being pushed.

“I’m ruined. You’ve ruined me, Ginger.”

Even though she is very strong and independent, her childhood has created insecurities and fears that overwhelm Ginger. She is so worried about becoming her mother. I connected with Ginger on so many levels. Her loyalty and love for her sister, her need for survival at all cost, and her fear to become what she feared the most affected me and made me love her. All of this made her hold Derek at a distance, afraid to give any part of herself to someone who could destroy her.

“The longer it takes me to get between your thighs, the rougher I’m going to be when I finally get in there. Understand?”

Derek is a protector by nature but his instant attraction to Ginger brought his possessiveness to an all time high. Looking into who Ginger is, he uncovers the dangerous truth about where the money that she stole came from. But, Ginger smart mouthed, stubborn nature makes it difficult for him to keep her safe at all times.

“Give me a chance, beautiful girl,” he whispered urgently against her lips.

Ginger and Willa’s witty banter brought a comical element to this story. They were true southern girls with the perfect amount of feisty and sweet to make them magnetic to everyone they meet. I absolutely loved the dynamic between the sisters. I think that Willa has a story to tell herself and would love to see that happen.

I absolutely loved Protecting What’s His. It was completely addictive and smoking hot. The dynamics between the characters along with the slight suspense made this one a definite page turner.

About the Author
My name is Lindsay Brady. I currently juggle being a wife, a mother, and a middle school teacher. My daughter is almost three and is ALL girl. She keeps me very busy!!! When I was younger, you could find me either reading or writing books. My parents thought that I would end up becoming a writer and have somehow not given up on that dream even though I never pursued it. In reality, I abruptly stopped reading when I changed to a private school in the fifth grade and was forced to read books that didn't even slightly interest me. About a year ago, I was needing something to help me slow down and provide an escape from my busy schedule. That is when I got the itch to read again. And once I started, I have not been able to stop. I think I am making up for lost time :) I particularly like contemporary, adult, and young adult romance novels. There are so many great books that have kept me busy lately and so many that I am looking forward to!

I just realized that I’ve never read a book about a man in uniform! No cops, firefighters, pilots, military men, etc. I need to fix that!
