Life hasn’t been easy for Chase Walker. He’s experienced tragedy, and at times he’s not sure he wants to continue living. But he made a vow to go on with his life, and he intends to keep it.

After getting a college scholarship to play football, Chase heads off to school, hoping his time on the field will help to bury the intense emotions that still linger in his heart. Fate doesn’t work that way though, and he soon finds himself having to face all the things he’s carrying inside, or he may miss the one shot he has to learn how to love again.

***Please do not read if you have not read Chasing Nikki***

Finding Chase was a great 4 star continuation of Chasing Nikki. It picks up soon after Chasing Nikki ended. This one was not nearly as emotional for me as the first, which was a good thing because I just didn’t know if I could go through all of that again. It was still a touching story of learning to move on and love again after life’s tragedies.

“I love her, Grandpa,” I cried, my words sounding foreign and choked. “I really loved her. I don’t know how to live without her. I don’t want to live without her.”

Chase Walker is trying to find a way to move on after the death that he has recently experienced with two loved ones. He has made a vow to Nikki to try and make something of his life but he is having a really hard time finding the will to go on.

I look around and see everyone continuing on like they don’t realize the sun has quit shining. Everything seems dark and negative now. I’m not myself anymore. I might appear the same on the outside, but inside… inside I’m hollow.

Trying to keep his promise to Nikki, Chase commits to play football at a nearby 4 year university. Luckily, his best friends, Brett, Brittany, and Tana also decide to attend the same college. These three friends become the greatest support system for Chase. They are always there with great advice and just overall genuine concern for Chase. Eventually, Chase starts to realize that his initial attraction to Brittany is still there. But, he doesn’t want lose himself in someone else just to end up with the same disappointment.

“I’ve learned life is too short to keep hoping for someday to arrive.”

Joining Chase on his journey to learn to live and love again was emotion filled. I had fallen in love with him in Chasing Nikki and wanted nothing more than to see a happy ending for him. I really loved his friends in Chasing Nikki but fell further in love with them in this one, especially Brett and Brittany. Everyone needs friends like them. While there was still turmoil making this one steadily engaging, the major emotional events that happened in Chasing Nikki were not mimicked here. I really enjoyed this series and would definitely recommend it as an emotional, heartbreaking, yet encouraging YA tale of relying on loved ones to learn to live again.

The point is, sometimes you’ve got to lance your wounds, and let all the infection and poison pour out of your soul so it doesn’t eat you alive from the inside out. Sometimes we fail to see there are people around us who love us, and they are waiting to help, but we don’t let them. Instead, we choose to let things fester, going off on our own – licking wounds as we try to heal ourselves.

About the Author
My name is Lindsay Brady. I currently juggle being a wife, a mother, and a middle school teacher. My daughter is almost three and is ALL girl. She keeps me very busy!!! When I was younger, you could find me either reading or writing books. My parents thought that I would end up becoming a writer and have somehow not given up on that dream even though I never pursued it. In reality, I abruptly stopped reading when I changed to a private school in the fifth grade and was forced to read books that didn't even slightly interest me. About a year ago, I was needing something to help me slow down and provide an escape from my busy schedule. That is when I got the itch to read again. And once I started, I have not been able to stop. I think I am making up for lost time :) I particularly like contemporary, adult, and young adult romance novels. There are so many great books that have kept me busy lately and so many that I am looking forward to!
