Emotional! Heartbreaking! And just overall a tragically beautiful story about learning to live as life continues to throw punches. Excuse me as I wipe the tears that continue to flow after finishing Chasing Nikki. I was so not prepared to get this emotional but this one made me ugly cry.

[quote align="center" color="#999999"]What reason was there to try and please people, when they were clearly going to draw their own opinions of who I was, regardless of what I did?

Chase Walker is dealing with the death of his father. Struggling with how exactly to move on, Chase resorts to drugs and alcohol. His life has spiraled out of control and he can no longer keep up the popular, starting quarterback role. Unfortunately, Chase’s lifestyle change lands him in some deep trouble. Scared for his safety, Chase’s mom decides to move them to live with his grandparents. Chase is completely opposed to this. That is, until he meets Nikki Wagner.

“The name is Chase, and you should remember it because I’m coming after you, baby.”

Chase notices Nikki immediately and is determined to make her go out with him. Nikki has different plans. After being burned by an ex-boyfriend, she has vowed to never date the typical cocky football player ever again. But Chase is very determined!

I wasn’t used to rejection, and I was surprised by how badly it hurt.

Chase was truly a lovable guy. He exuded confidence but yet had his own demons that he struggled with. What was so beautiful was how Nikki helped him to deal with his demons and made him want to be a better person. Nikki was such a refreshing character. She clearly had a pure heart and was able to see past the exterior, into what is inside. She had dealt with her own loss and was such a good support for Chase.

“You’ve been the greatest gift in my life – the girl I never knew I always wanted.”

Chasing Nikki was such an incredible story about life, loss, addiction, and the overwhelming effects of love. I will say that about half way through the story, things got a little bit slow for me. But then, “it” happened and everything after that was very intense and had me clutching my heart and wiping the many tears away. While the ending was not what I was expecting, it was surprisingly satisfying. I thoroughly enjoyed Chasing Nikki and look forward to starting Finding Chase.

About the Author
My name is Lindsay Brady. I currently juggle being a wife, a mother, and a middle school teacher. My daughter is almost three and is ALL girl. She keeps me very busy!!! When I was younger, you could find me either reading or writing books. My parents thought that I would end up becoming a writer and have somehow not given up on that dream even though I never pursued it. In reality, I abruptly stopped reading when I changed to a private school in the fifth grade and was forced to read books that didn't even slightly interest me. About a year ago, I was needing something to help me slow down and provide an escape from my busy schedule. That is when I got the itch to read again. And once I started, I have not been able to stop. I think I am making up for lost time :) I particularly like contemporary, adult, and young adult romance novels. There are so many great books that have kept me busy lately and so many that I am looking forward to!
